I completed my “October Socks” on Tuesday, and since Larissa has confirmed that she likes them, wants them, and will wear them, I’m going to give them to her.  Even though I really like them, too.  But they are just a tad short for me and besides, if she actually likes something I’m making, I do want to take advantage of that and give it to her.

Anyway, here’s a picture of the socks.

They’re made from Neighborhood Fiber Company hand-painted yarn and pattern made exclusively for the Tour of DC Sock Club.  The colorway is called Cockscomb on Q after a flower found in a planter on Q Street in Washington DC.  And this is the October installment of pattern and yarn, thus, October Sock.

The December installment has been late in coming, but I’m looking forward to its arrival with anticipation.

In the meantime, I’m going to start over with the yarn I was using for the Pomatomus Socks, since I really didn’t like the way they were turning out.  ‘Frogged them and am starting with a simpler pattern that should emphasize color rather than pattern.  They both got to muddied with the other one.

I do like the Pomatomus Sock pattern, though and plan to make it in the future out of a more subtly dyed yarn, probably in green or blue.

I really like Vicki’s idea of inventorying the WIP’s tucked away in bags, boxes, and closets and setting a goal for completion for 2009.  I did get a few done last year, but sort of lost the momentum after the move.  The first step is doing the inventory, though, and I’m not sure when I’ll get to it, but I’m going to try.  Vicki always provides me with lots of inspiration and motivation!

Happy New Year!
