I was finally able to bring “Buffy Tracks”, the bison down scarf I am making for John’s birthday out in the open today.DSCN1260

I didn’t get quite halfway finished with it, but it was making me crazy trying to work on it in snatches here and there.  He really likes it and says he had no idea I was working on it.

It should be fairly quick work to finish it, although I am going to continue concentrating on getting my Claret Perfect Sweater finished.

I finished the first sleeve yesterday and have about 8 inches completed on the second one.  It looks just like the other one.

This morning I made a German Chocolate Cake for John’s birthday.  DSCN1259

It’s never a particularly pretty cake, in my estimation, but it always tastes great and is the tradition for John’s birthday.

‘Working on the Take It Further Challenge and not making a lot of progress.  I’m trying out two different ways to do a threaded backstitch around the mandala.  This one is the regular way the stitch is supposed to be done (I think).DSCN1262

On the other one I’m trying leaving loops with the thread as it weaves in and out of the backstitch.

So far I think the tight one is too “stiff” for this piece, but I think the loopy one is to “frou frou”  (who knows how that is spelled?).DSCN1261

I’m sitting with it for a while.  They may both come out and be replaced by some beads on the outside of the pale green backstitching.

We’re heading out to Joseph’s Table tonight for a birthday dinner. Then back home for cake!
